SHOTS Magazine featured Wendi Schneider as the designated “Emerging Photographer” for their JOURNEY issue. Many thanks to Douglas Beasley for his wonderful interview!
“I saw your portfolio ‘Evenings With the Moon’ at PhotoLucida and was knocked out by the physicality of the prints — how they felt in my hand, the translucence. I thought the gold leafing was especially effective in giving the prints a sense of both delicacy and depth. That quality is so hard to convey in the two dimensions of print.“

Many thanks to Michael Kirchoff for his illuminating interview with Wendi for Catalyst:Interviews, his series of discussions with photographers on the creative process.
“Images like hers are achieved only through a process of thoughtful examination and execution. … The artist’s hand is evident in every single one of them, and they share the same qualities as their creator – uniqueness, elegance, and a reverence for the tangible.”

Thanks to Lannie Versair for publishing this wonderful interview on his blog, Shutter Talking!
“As to what to gild, it’s intuitive, as is what I capture. As I have worked with the process, I’m often drawn to images with light areas that might show more of the luminous gilding, but sometimes a pop of light can be dramatic and effective on a darker image. It depends of the desired outcome, though the hands-on journey of each piece may take it in a different direction.“

Wendi sat down with Rfotofolio recently to discuss her career in photography, her inspirations, and the States of Grace series. Huge thanks to Connie Rosenthal for sharing this wonderful interview!
“When I’m capturing or creating an image, I’m entirely focused on the detail and wonder of the subject and process, so all else fades away. The creative flow quiets the noise in my head. The current project finds me often in nature, so that in itself is incredibly healing for me emotionally and spiritually. If I can create work, I feel fortunate. If I can make work that I feel good about, I feel fulfilled. If I can create work that touches others in some way, I feel successful.”

“Wendi is a photographic artist who seeks beauty in a world that challenges our sense of inner peace. … Each image is a unique consideration and elevated through her use of vellum and white gold, silver or 24k gold leaf, resulting in photographic objects that shimmer with luminosity and sumptuous elegance.”
States of Grace was recently featured on German contemporary photography website Uncoated, an online platform where both emerging and established photographers can showcase their work and connect with enthusiasts.
Wendi Schneider was recently featured in Diffusion Magazine, the artfully crafted photography annual from One Twelve Publishing. The limited edition of 400 print copies quickly sold out, but digital copies of the issue can be downloaded for free at the link below.
Huge thanks to the wonderful Dodho magazine, who recently featured States of Grace on their website.
“’States of Grace’ is a portfolio of painterly photographs illuminating the sinuous grace of organic forms in the natural world.“
Wendi is thrilled to share that States of Grace was a recent featured portfolio on the photography website Bokeh Bokeh, dedicated to presenting the work of outstanding photographers from around the world. Many thanks to Editor David Garnick for the feature!
