A Gallery For Fine Photography presents ‘States of Grace’ – a collection of twenty-four gilded pigment prints by contemporary artist Wendi Schneider. This work is rooted in the serenity Schneider finds in the sinuous elegance of organic forms.
To help celebrate the upcoming 163rd International Photography Exhibition, Schneider was recently featured in the Royal Photographic Society Journal alongside her fellow finalist, Lewis Fisher. The exhibition opens in April and will include two images selected from Schneider’s States of Grace series.
In the article, Schneider describes her background in painting, the evolution of States of Grace series, and her work’s spiritual connection to nature.

“Grace is defined as unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification; Wendi Schneider’s work provides a reprieve in these turbulent times.” –– Arnika Dawkins
“In times of turmoil we often turn to nature for solace and centering. Whether bringing light and focus to what we are losing or celebrating rebirth, from broad landscapes to close up or microscopic forms.
Artists throughout the ages have been drawn to the vast and varied world of botanicals. What moves you? Do you celebrate the essence of beauty or strive to heighten recognition of the perilous path of our environment? Are you inspired by a single bloom or a profusion of blossoms in a lush bouquet, enchanted gardens manicured or messy, plants endangered or invasive, carefully cultivated or sown by nature, bursting forth or shriveling on a vine?”

I create illuminated illusions – tender, gilded offerings of fleeting moments of beauty in our vulnerable environment. . .My process creates a surface that shimmers as the viewer’s position and ambient light transition, reflecting the mercurial light at capture. . .Each of these unique framed prints is a one-of-a-kind object of reverence.
Landscape photography shows spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending, but other times microscopic. Landscape photographs typically capture the presence of nature but can also focus on man-made features or disturbances of landscapes. Many landscape photographs show little or no human activity and are created in the pursuit of a pure, unsullied depiction of nature, devoid of human influence—instead featuring subjects such as strongly defined landforms, weather, ambient light and other sublime elements. Beyond purely aesthetic considerations, landscapes often contain intensely personal and emotional subjectivities; evidence of secret histories of fondness, love, and nurturing – or of past emotional turbulence, loss, longing and regret.
Entry Deadline: October 31st, 2021
