Wendi Schneider’s “Patina Collection” Featured on All About Photo

November 21, 2021

I create illuminated illusions – tender, gilded offerings of fleeting moments of beauty in our vulnerable environment. . .My process creates a surface that shimmers as the viewer’s position and ambient light transition, reflecting the mercurial light at capture. . .Each of these unique framed prints is a one-of-a-kind object of reverence.

Wendi Schneider to Jury “Landscape” Exhibition for Praxis Gallery in Minneapolis

October 2, 2021

Landscape photography shows spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending, but other times microscopic. Landscape photographs typically capture the presence of nature but can also focus on man-made features or disturbances of landscapes. Many landscape photographs show little or no human activity and are created in the pursuit of a pure, unsullied depiction of nature, devoid of human influence—instead featuring subjects such as strongly defined landforms, weather, ambient light and other sublime elements. Beyond purely aesthetic considerations, landscapes often contain intensely personal and emotional subjectivities; evidence of secret histories of fondness, love, and nurturing – or of past emotional turbulence, loss, longing and regret.

Entry Deadline: October 31st, 2021

Wendi Schneider’s “Patina Collection” in IF 6 at Rick Wester Fine Art

March 25, 2021

IF 6 is Rick Wester Fine Art Gallery’s first in-person group exhibition since before the start of the pandemic, signifying the beginning of a return to normalcy. In the same light, IF 6 brings hints of ecstasy, springtime and rebirth.

IF 6 is a visual representation of adaptability and perspective, with the title taken from Jimi Hendrix’s song, “If 6 Was 9,” which questions the possibility of another scenario. What would happen if 6 was 9, if the situation were reversed, if something you thought you knew ended up being something else entirely? It is a metaphor for the experience of the past year for most of us, everywhere.”

Wendi Schneider Featured in “Still in the Studio” at Catherine Couturier Gallery

February 10, 2021

“It has been a year of more and less. More appreciation, compassion, loss, recognition, reflection, solitude, and work. Less travel, interaction, and concern about unimportant things. Even mundane tasks have developed into more meditative moments. I am acutely aware of the passage of time and of my emotions, which seem to resonate more deeply. And as usual, but perhaps more than ever, I have turned to my art for serenity and respite, as making art to celebrate beauty has always been my personal refuge…” — Wendi Schneider

Wendi contributed a post to Still in the Studio, a weekly series created in response to the pandemic, where artists offer insight into their work and artist practice.

Wendi Schneider Now Represented by Vision Gallery in Jerusalem

January 29, 2021

“In a recent article published on Artnet, I noted that there is a trend in contemporary photography, a movement that might be called neo-Romanticism, in which artists seek ‘a transcendent union between nature, science & humanity.’ This harmonious fusion of elements is easily discerned in the works of artist Wendi Schneider. Wendi’s work shares an affinity with other Vision artists, most notably Beth Moon and Jennifer Schlesinger and with my own ‘Celestial Nights’ series. . .  [Wendi’s] images and prints are unique, I have never seen anything like them. We are privileged to have it at Vision. You are invited to schedule a live or virtual visit to the gallery and see the work in person.”

Wendi Schneider to Juror “Flora” for Southeast Center For Photography

January 5, 2021

Artists throughout the ages have been drawn to the vast and varied world of flora. What moves you? Do you celebrate the essence of beauty or strive to heighten recognition of the perilous path of our environment? Are you inspired by a single bloom or a profusion of blossoms in a lush bouquet, enchanted gardens manicured or messy, plants endangered or invasive, carefully cultivated or sown by nature, bursting forth or shriveling on a vine?

We’re looking for flora, all types from a single stem to a vast landscape, still life, formal gardens, or vegetation gone wild. Color or monochrome, analog, digital or antique processes, photographers of all skill levels and locations are welcome.

Deadline for submissions is March 7, 2021.

Wendi Schneider Portfolio Featured in ARTDOC Magazine

December 22, 2020

“Trees are silent protagonists in the work of Wendi Schneider, which is rooted in the serenity she finds in the sinuous elegance of organic forms. She shares moments of respite in beauty as an antidote to the unease in the world in which we live. “If I can touch someone else with my work, I’m deeply moved and grateful. I hope that viewers will appreciate the beauty and embrace the need to care for our endangered planet.”

“Process as a Search for Serenity” with Wendi Schneider

November 21, 2020

Wendi Schneider - Cypress

“Process as a Search for Serenity”
Los Angeles Center of Photography
Online Learning Series
Saturday, March 27, 10:00 am – 11:30 am PST

In this webinar, Wendi will discuss her artistic process, which fuses digital techniques with hand-gilding. Schneider’s process is heart-driven by a search for grace and the elusive ‘glow of flow,’ when the awareness of time and space disappear. Using her own work as reference, Wendi will showcase a series of images at several points in the production process to tell the story of an image from capture to completion. Rather than a tutorial on her image-making techniques, Wendi will discuss the path that has led her to her chosen form photography and print-making, and share how she uses her process to find serenity.

Wendi Schneider Featured in The Royal Photographic Society Visual Arts Magazine

October 12, 2020

Wendi Schneider was a Featured Photographer in the 158th Issue of Visual Art, the magazine published by England’s Royal Photographic Society Visual Art Group. Many thanks to the Royal Photographic Society for this wonderful feature.

“I was in New Orleans last year and found ‘A Gallery for Fine Photography’ and it was here, among a fantastic selection of images, that I discovered the work of Denver-based artist Wendi Schneider. Her work literally shone out, by the use of precious metals to gild the reverse of her work, she creates other-worldly representations of the environment around us. I admire the way she has produced a beautiful body of work in a unique and magical way.“

– Ray Higginbottom, Editor, ARPS

Wendi Schneider Featured on “Mother F Stop”

August 11, 2020

Wendi Schneider - Withdrawal to Tranquility

“Her work is influenced by the lush landscapes of Memphis and New Orleans, her collection of art and antiques from the turn of the twentieth century, and a background in painting and art history – in particular the work of Steichen, Whistler, and other Pictorialists and Tonalists. She turned to photography in the early 1980s to create references for her paintings, then combined the mediums…”
