In the early 1980’s, I bought a Nikon FE to create references for my paintings. Mesmerized by the magic of the emerging image in the darkroom, yet missing the sensuality of oils and the intimacy of painting, I created delicate layers of paint to portray a more personal impression of the captured moments. I continued to work in this process into the mid ‘90s, also working in Polaroid transfers. Each of these processes allowed me to create one-of-a-kind prints in small, variable editions.
